We were moved to the "YURT" a couple Wednesdays later due to racers. After the move to the "Powderhound" yurt, we were spoiled. So that is where home base became the rest of the year, (with the exception of one time in LODGE 2 when chair one was non-operational). We ended our season with the annual brat lunch in LODGE 1.
Many of the Prime Timer Wednesdays were sunny! Besides good skiing and superb grooming, we had great after ski gatherings. We were able to be in & outside the yurt and on lodge 1 deck to gather.
The lunch coupon ticket drawing was a big hit! The Prime Timers purchased 100 coupons from the mountain and Gail held the weekly drawings in the Yurt! Kevin Pryor graciously donated 4 x $25 gift certificates for our on-line drawing. Other skiers on the mountain heard about the fun and we ended up with some new members! We are kinda fun!
About 40 of us headed to McCall February 15 - 19 for our ski trip. We hit it right for the snow conditions. We enjoyed powder and a few sunny, super groomer days. Many of us that hadn't gotten to ski together, connected up for most of the days and skied some fantastic runs.
Larry Vandendberg organized an impromptu Gonzaga game night at the hotel. Joey cooked up some brats & burgers & we had us a great pot luck!
For our last day, Gabe was happy to make the Brat lunch happen. With luck, the seating capacity was raised to 50% a week before our lunch, so we could increase the attendees. We had 150 happy Prime Timers enjoy the lunch, friends and sun. What a fantastic way to end our season!
We will begin to workout details and dues for next year in the next couple months. Everyone who was on the email list from 2019 - 2021 will be given information as soon as we have it figured out. We also may be sending out a survey for your input. For instance, I know there was some requests for us to be in lodge 1 next year. It is up to the mountain, but we may have input.
Thank you to Gail for being in the YURT every week! And thank you to all our 256 members and 21 new members for making this fantastic season!

Happy St Paddy's day! Even though it may not seem to festive right now, we sure pulled off a fantastic party last week and we'll survive these challenging & historic times. We had a fantastic season, it just ended quicker than we would have liked.
We all want to stay healthy and we appreciate the decision made by Mt Spokane.
Please stayed tuned for Dave Whipple's cycling opportunities. You'll received an email when it kicks off, probably not until May or June.
We may also be doing some hiking (skinning) to ski Mt Spokane.
The best place to be right now is outside enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
If there's anything we can do for any of our members during this difficult time , please let me know.
It just takes a request from you and I can send out an email. Our members are willing to help.
As Prime Timers, many of us are the "vulnerable population", and some should not be going out at all and may need groceries - hopefully not Toilet Paper (sorry had to say that).
Please let me know

As you know, we checked out McCall as an option for our Annual Ski Trip. All 6 of us agreed this could be a great area to visit. We skied at Brundage and Tamarack mountains.
It is awesome Galen is willing to put his credit card on the line to reserve room blocks as he's done for our Whitefish trips.
We could do both trips, but we would need to ask someone else to help with accommodations as we can't ask Galen to do both.
THE DATES WOULD BE
McCall FEB 15 - 19
Whitefish FEB 7 - 10
Please CLICK HERE to see an overview and vote.
A little more info:
Brundage is 15 minutes from McCall and there is a shuttle service. Tamarack is 30 minutes from McCall and would be self drive to the mountain.
Brundage has a Mt Spokane feel only bigger, a high speed quad, great runs & very good grooming. https://brundage.com/ Tamarack (pictured above) https://tamarackidaho.com/ has a relaxed upscale feel with all high speed lifts, a base village, hotels, condos & homes. There's long cruiser runs and steep terrain as well. We loved both mountains and all agreed this would be a great option since there are two mountains so close together.
McCall is a quaint small town about 5 hours drive from Spokane. Most things are within walking distance or short drive from the hotel we've chosen. We checked out a number of hotels and found The Holiday Inn Express to be perfect for us. It has a similar feel to the Lodge at Whitefish, about the same cost, PLUS you get a free breakfast. There's restaurants within walking distance or a few block's drive. There's lots to do including X-country skiing & snow shoeing options at Tamarack and a sleigh ride to see elk herds.
If Mccall is the preferred choice, Galen would be securing a block of 20 rooms and and additional 20 if needed.
THE DATES WOULD BE FEB 15 - 19. Four nights KING $524 and double QUEEN $570 ($35 off their regular prices)
Please check your preference below. Whitefish would remain the same dates: FEB 7 - 10

Summer Biking by Dave Whipple
If you are interested in hearing about the bike rides…
I will be using the mailing list from last year about the bike rides. If you want to be included in these mailings, you must OPT IN. In other words, send me an email at primersrbikers@gmail.com and ask to be put on the list. This group is separate from the Prime Timers, so feel free to ask friends to join and get on the mailing list. This will be the only mailing about bike riding to the Prime Timers mailing list this year.I’ve had lots of questions about Prime Timer bike rides this summer. Yes, I plan on organizing these rides but will need some help.
I will be glad to publicize the rides; I just won’t be able to lead many of them. Some of the favorite rides from the last year include the following:
· Centennial Trail in the valley – From the west end of the off road trail near Argonne to Barker and back, often starting in the middle at Mirabeau Park.
· Fish Lake Trail
· Kendall Yards to seven mile – out on the trail, home on Audrey White Parkway
· Children of the Sun Trail
· Green Bluff loop
· Centennial Trail Idaho, Rest stop to C d’A and back
· West Coeur d’Alene/East Post Falls neighborhood ride
· Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes start at the Snake Pit, head toward Harrison for 45 minutes, return
· Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes Plummer to Harrison and back. Optional start at Heyburn State Park, doing the long, gradual uphill first instead of last
· Hiawatha Trail
If you would like to lead a ride, let me know and I will schedule it. It doesn’t have to be on this list.

We had a GREAT DAY! And so much fun! Thank you to Linda & Cheryl for making it a special event!
Roy and Donna Larson (pictured above) attended. They were Prime Timer founders in 1999.
I have a lot of history and pictures from the 20 years to load into our history page. This will probably be a summer project and will let you all know when it's done.
Below is a list of the 45 original members. The stars next to the names indicate those who are in the club today!

"The Mt. Spokane Ski Prime Timers are all about having FUN! Anyone 55 and older who enjoys Alpine and X-Country skiing can join.
The prime timers start Skiing the first Wednesday in January and then every Wednesday thereafter until the mountain closes. Their informal social gathering with refreshments at the end of the ski day is held in the balcony above the bar where they enjoy each other's company and share ski experiences."

10-21-18 afternoon update. I have it on good authority that a) load test on chair 6 will be on 11-10-18 b) ski school building will be ready for this season c) the building will serve the ski school and facilities (equipment, signage, etc in basement) d) magic carpet will be up and running for this season. It'll run from the end of ditch (right of that truck) to the orange post in the pic and is roughly inline with uphill side of lodge 2. e) there will be a temporary fence along the retaining wall with a permanent one being installed next year. Sorry, it's not a terrain park feature. f) road to top of mtn was and is closed for the season. Enjoy! 🎿
